9:00 departure from L’Aquila to drive along the longest tunnel of Italy which is located under Gran Sasso mountain, the highest top of Appenin chain hosting the world-renowned nuclear physics laboratory. Arrival to Civitella del Tronto, one of the most beautiful village in Italy, and optional tour of the majestic fortress considered as one of the biggest and most important European military engineering works. Characterized by an elliptical shape, from here it is possible to admire a stunning landscape starting from the ancient village below with its characteristic fort-houses, stretching till Gran Sasso, Laga, Majella and Twins mountains and reaching the Adriatic sea. The site is mainly known for being the last strong hold of the Kingdom of the two Sicilies which surrendered to Piedmont in 20 march 1861, three days before the coronation of the Italian King Vittorio Emanuele II. 15:30 departure to Campli and visit one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, located in the National Park of Gran Sasso Laga Mountains. It is known for the Holy Steps, a rarity worldwide. According to the Christian religion, in fact, it is possible to obtain an indulgence by praying and kneeling the 28 steps of olive wood that make up the staircase leading to the chapel of the Sancta Sanctorum.
