1° day

Arrival at National Park of Gran Sasso and Laga Mountains through the “Tratturo Magno” an ancient Transumanza route, and arrival in Campo Imperatore, called little Tibet for its moon landscape, often chosen as natural sets of films and advertisements. Possibility to go up to the cable car of the Gran Sasso d'Italia at 2.115 m asl and where stands the historic hotel Campo Imperatore known for being the place where Mussolini was imprisoned during the Second World War.

13:00 free time for lunch based on arrosticini to be cooked yourself in a hut in the middle of nowhere. In the afternoon visit at the Castle of Calascio dating back to 1380 and the set of a number of movies including Ladyhawke.

17:00 check-in at multibuilding hotel where to live an authentic experience from Abruzzo in Santo Stefano di Sessanio, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy now greatly renovated, where reign supreme the pictoresque Medici family tower and walking tour through traditional craft shops where you can buy the DOP saffron made in L’Aquila, slow food presidium , known as “red gold” because it is the purest in the world, DOP lentis and many local cheeses, honey and jam and other artisanal products made by fine wool.

20:00 optional dinner in a characteristic restaurant with typical dishes and overnight stay.

2° day

10:00 arrival in Capestrano for a canoe excursion along the river Tirino with its waters considered the clearest in Europe. Free time for lunch in agriturismo nearby and possibility to visit the Piccolomini Castle, with three circular towers and a prismatic tower from which you can admire the entire Tirino Valley. At the entrance the Warrior of Capestrano, symbol of archaeological Abruzzo, welcomes you and you can pay a visit to a small museum of the Second World War. Possibility to visit the Church of San Pietro Ad Oratorium which boasts the mysterious "Square of Sator".
